Shaun Sutton, one of Central's joint Director’s, has been appointed to the Industrial Advisory Board at Liverpool John Moores University and as Treasurer to the industry trade association, the AEMT.
At Liverpool John Moores he joins a number of industry representatives from throughout the North West and will help devise project work - helping to make courses more relevant for industry - advise students and provide mentoring for those ready to leave education and enter the world of work.
Says Shaun: “It is an honour to be invited to join the Industrial Advisory Board and I am looking forward to working with both the course leaders and students, getting to know more about the curriculum and working with the team to see how we can make the course even better and more effective for the future."
Whilst his appointment at the university is aimed at helping those at the beginning of their working journey, Shaun’s input at the AEMT (Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades) will see him involved in helping established, like-minded companies working in similar industries to Central Group.
The AEMT is the international trade association for all companies who manufacture, distribute, install, service, maintain and repair industrial machinery technology such as electric motors, drives, pumps, fans, gearboxes, generators, transformers, switchgear and ancillary equipment.
Membership provides training opportunities, technical services and support as well as fostering trade between members. Shaun’s appointment as Treasurer further supports the AEMT board and will help ensure the services and support provided by the association continue to benefit its members.
Shaun says: “Competition between companies in similar industries is a given, but there is also a great deal of support to be found with membership of a trade association such as the AEMT. Central Group has been a member for many years now and we have benefitted in lots of ways, so now I’m looking forward to being able to give something back and the help the association provide similar support for other members.”
