Celebrating Seven Years of CEMARS

Anna Ellam

Now, more than ever, businesses are aware of the issues involved with climate change and energy consumption and most are keen to do everything they can to reduce their impact on the environment.  Here at Central we’ve been tackling these issues head on for many years; something which has been acknowledged by our seventh successive CEMARS certification.

CEMARS, the Carbon & Energy Management Reduction Scheme, is a worldwide accreditation, presented to those companies who can demonstrate an active and operational carbon and energy reduction plan and a commitment to the environment.

To qualify companies must prove that they are taking all appropriate action and necessary steps to manage their energy consumption and lower their carbon footprint, not only internally, but across their supply chain. Our latest CEMARS certification recognises Central as being a proud carbon reducer for seven years running.

The accreditation is one which is available for all organisation - in any sector and of any size - is operated by Achilles, the global leader in supply chain risk and performance management.  Achilles works with organisations to set on-going sustainability goals, manage carbon risk and set benchmarks and KPIs to measure against.  It can also help plan for any future legislation which may involve energy consumption and carbon reduction.

Not only is Central committed to identifying and achieving our own energy standards, but we also want to help other companies achieve similar success.  Our Energy division provides a range of services which provide successful, cost effective solutions which have already proved beneficial for companies such as Nutricia and Alton Towers.

We can help with initiatives including voltage optimisation, biomass boilers, lighting and wind turbines, all of which can help companies tackle their carbon footprint and provide the incentive needed to apply for their own CEMARS accreditation.
